You know that feeling when you just need something sweet, then your mind starts raiding the cupboard for something that will hit the spot? You start thinking about chocolate and you're done for... Well this is how these 'after dinner' coffee numbers came about, although they are not quite how I originally envisaged them... They are deliciously rich, creamy and high in protein making them a fantastic 'spot hitterer' if you get my drift... Make up a batch and see what you think, and they are waaaaay better for you than a family sized bar of galaxy!
What you will need
- 1 or 2 bars of Raw Chocolate Smoothie Pie Coffee (I used 2 to make a big batch to keep in the fridge for emergencies)
- A couple of handfuls of raw almonds and pecans.
So all you need to do is warm your Raw Chocolate Pie bars, I find the best way to do this is by boiling some water in a pan, sitting a heat proof bowl over the pan, place the Chocolate in the bowl and gently melt. This particular bar is quiet awesome, you see it doesn't really melt as such, it kinda goes like putty. So my original plan of daintily pouring the chocolate over the nuts, completely went out the window... I stood looking at my tray of nuts awaiting the 'liquid' chocolate while eying my bowl of putty. Then my 3 year old daughter Raphael plods into the kitchen, pulls up a stool to take a look at my 'creation', rolls up her sleeves and gets stuck in... she molds, and squidges and smoothes and has created her very own first recipe...And she named them Chocolate Beetles...
So there you have it an intense little craving sorter outer... keep in the fridge for a week or so... ours didn't last that long... moreish blighters these little beetles! X
